"My Place" Exhibit - Museum of Civilization
Via Capitale X Museum of Civilization (2024)
A fantastical home like no other, dreamed up with a crowd of wildly imaginative kids and brought to life right inside the Musée de la civilisation (Québec) through a live brainstorming and sketching event. Commissioned by Via Capitale, this vibrant vinyl cover now brightens every tabletop in the museum’s cafeteria, neighbouring the My Place exhibit, turning an ordinary lunch break into a magical extension of the exhibition space.

A Peek Behind the Art
When Camille and Myriam from Via Capitale reached out about a live sketching session at the MCQ, my curiosity was instantly piqued. How often do you get to co-create a piece of public art with a room full of kids, in the middle of a museum?
The “My Place” exhibition is a permanent playground for the imagination, inviting children to wander through an extraordinary house filled with secret passages, curious rooms, and unexpected treasures. For this special commission, we decided to take that whimsy outdoors, imagining the garden, grounds, and sky beyond the walls.
During the live event, I sketched alongside a group of children and their families as they threw out ideas for their dream house. The results? Giant candy, colorful balloons, fantastical characters, playful windows, and so much more. I wove as many of their ideas as possible into the final artwork, transforming the lunchroom tables into a place where the story continues outside the exhibit's walls.
